Okay, so hey I'm Slayingthehalcyon, Slay for short. I'm also one of the admins on the wiki, and I'm here to help walk you through using imgur for displaying photos on the wiki, without uploading them to the wiki! First though, I need to set down a few guidelines for the images.
This should mainly be used to display screenshots of the wiki or of another wiki.
Images should not be full-sized screenshots – You should crop your picture so that it is just a little larger than the specific area/thing that you are trying to point out.
Do not use this to post scary images.
To get started
To get started, you'll need to sign up for imgur, which is extremely simple.
You can register with any of the four social websites or you can register directly with imgur.
Once you've logged into your account, you'll want to add images to it. When you are on your account page, which should have a url like this slathehal.imgur.com/all/ except with whatever username/accountname you used instead of "slathehal". Once you're on that page, you can click on an image on your computer and drag it to the browser window. When you let go, the site should add the image to your gallery.
You can also use the feature which is to the right hand side of the images you've uploaded. The "Computer" button allows you to search your computer for an image. The "Web" Button allows you to paste in a web URL link and upload files like that.
Using the Image on Wikia
Now, because of some fan dangled sorcery implemented by your's truly, that's me, you can use a link that imgur gives you to use the images on it in other places. Click on an image that you've uploaded to your gallery. This will pull up a viewing window sort of like the one on Wikia.
Copy the "Direct Link (email & IM)" and then paste it into a wikia page or comment, and Viola! You have just placed an image on the wiki without actually uploading it to the wiki!
Be careful how large of a picture you try to add, because there isn't really a way to change the size of the image.
Just a thought
I would recommend clicking "Thumbnail" in the view options on the lower right hand corner of the viewing window, as this makes the image a bit better sized if it is larger.
Also, really do try to make sure that the image you're trying to put on the wiki, contains only the the section of the page that you're trying to draw attention to.
