GemSquare copy

Square gems or attack gems are used to add elemental attack power to items. They can be purchased in the store, dropped by titans, or found in chests/prize wheels. When used in a solar trans weapon, the effect of a square gem (and all other types of gems) is multiplied by 10. When put in the weapon, a message will appear stating about its devastating effect. Each gem has a different effect on each opponent. A few types of elements will take away certain quantities of the enemy's health(such as Ice)whereas others will slowly drain life(such as Poison). And depending on the enemy, some elemental attack gems will not have any effect on the enemy at all, because some opponents can be immune to certain elements at times.

Standard Square Gems

The cap for all the standard square gems are 400. The cap for all outdoor and indoor gems are 750.

Fire sgem - Fire Water sgem - Water
Ice sgem - Ice Wind sgem - Wind
Poison sgem - Poison Dark sgem - Dark (or a Rare Darkfire Gem)
Shock sgem - Shock Light sgem - Light (or a Rare Spectrum Gem)

Rare Square Gems and Leveling in Infinity Blade II

Forging three capped (+400) square gems together yields a rare square gem (+500). Forging a rare square gem together with two non-capped square gems yields a higher-level rare square gem. The value of a rare square gem is added by 100 for each leveling. The two standard square gems cannot be capped, and must be at least +200 in level. This process can be repeated indefinitely. This process is similar with circle gems. A capped (+400) fire attack gem can be obtained by defeating Ryth.

Rare Square Gems and Leveling in Infinity Blade III

Forging three capped normal, indoor and outdoor (+400,+750,+750) square gems together yields a rare square gem (+500). Forging a rare square gem together with two non-capped square gems yields a higher-level rare square gem. The value of a rare square gem is added by 100 for each leveling. The two standard square gems cannot be capped, and must be at least +200 in level (or +375 for indoor/outdoor gems). This process can be repeated indefinitely. This process is similar with circle gems. A (+500) fire attack gem can be obtained via the Map of Ash and Sorrow gained by defeating Ba'el.

Spectrum Gems and Leveling

Three rare square gems forged together in a certain order yields either a rare spectrum gemLight sgem or a rare darkfire gemDark sgem. Interestingly, the rare spectrum gem has the same color with the light square gem while the rare darkfire gem has the same color with the dark square gem. These gems cause full spectrum damage, similar to how a rare defense gem defends the player from all elements.

Leveling spectrum gems is slightly different: By forging three +500 of one type of spectrum gem, a +1000 of that spectrum gem will be produced. Forging that +1000 gem with two +500 gems of the same type, a +1250 gem will be produced. From there on, the gem gains +250 when it is forged with two +500 spectrum gems. (As a note, the gems forged must be of one type: you must forge three darkfires, or three spectrums, but cannot forge 2 spectrums + darkfire, etc).
